Indian Wedding in a fairy tale Tuscan Borgo

Lindsey and Aayon – 31 August-3 September 2019 – By Roberta Pizzinelli

I met Lindsey and Aayon for the first time during a Skype and there was mutual empathy immediately. A special couple with eyes full of enthusiasm and excitement for the realization of their dream of getting married in Tuscany. Lindsey and Aayon live in New Jersey, Aayon was born in India and Lindsey’s family is of Greek origin and this intertwining of stunning cultures and customs was the ideal basis for a wonderful wedding.Their site inspection in Tuscany with their loved ones was an overwhelming experience: from the make-up & hair trial to their engagement photoshoot taken in the beautiful Florence under the threat of the rain which, however, enriched the service with amazing creative shoots. And from tasting menus that were an occasion for conviviality to meetings with floral designers and finally the very much desired visit of the wedding venue which was truly magical under the admired eyes of the couple and their parents. Finally we came to the first date of their wedding which began with a typical Welcome Pizza Party. The second day of the wedding started with a colorful Mehndi full of brightly coloured clothes, the Mehndi artist decorating the bride’s hands and feet with wonderful henna designs. The Mehndi Party was an explosion of colours, spontaneity and joy. And then came the Big Day that started with the Baraat, a procession of radiant family members and cheering friends full of positive energy and dancing to the rhythm of fascinating Indian music. This was a truly breathtaking moment, a riot of happiness, energy, excitement and sharing. Tuscany landscape matches perfectly with the style and the colourful setting, the green of the surrounding was really a perfect match.

After the Baarat, the Indian ceremony with Lindsey and Aayon in their beautiful Indian dresses in bright colors and embellished with gold elements and jewels.

The couple got married under a wonderful flower-decorated Mandap and exchanged flower garlands. It was a ceremony full of feeling and strong emotions as well as the symbolic ceremony  or “the white dress Ceremony”  in the afternoon. The love in the eyes of the spouses was the common thread of both ceremonies.

After the White dress ceremony guests enjoyed the standing aperitif in the gardens of the Borgo followed by a delicious seated dinner cheered by the music of a great live band. The wedding cake was made in front of the guests at the end of the dinner and under a rain of breathtaking fireworks. Party and dances followed first with the fabulous live band and after with a great DJ from London.

It was a romantic and dreamy wedding that left me with the beauty of the Indian traditions, the intensity of the mutual love of Lindsey and Aayon and the intense emotional participation of their families. This is what I will always bring in my heart!
